7 Wonders of the Ancient and the Modern World

Hi All,

You might have heard the phrase, 'The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World', but have you ever thought about what exactly the 7 wonders actually were? Click on this link to get a quick overview of the 7 wonders from Wikipedia. Neat stuff.

By the way, the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World were:
1. Great Pyramid of Giza
2. Hanging Gardens of Babylon
3. Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
4. Statue of Zeus at Olympia
5. Mausoleum of Halicarnussus
6. Colossus of Rhodes
7. Lighthouse of Alexandria

What made a wonder of the ancient world? How did a particular statue, temple or object qualify for this title? What are the modern day equivalents of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World? Well, that depends on who you ask. In other words, there are many different lists (compiled by various people) that claim to have the 'ultimate list of the 7 Wonders of the Modern World'. Go figure - people are arguing over even this topic.
