Hi All,
With Memorial Day being over now, folks can move on to the next big thing...which is....Summer.
Traditionally Memorial Day is the start of the summer holiday season. Forth with...a few sites that will assist you in enjoying those beautiful days off during a Long Island summer.
One of the better 'things to do' links for Long Island is the site LongIsland.com - it bills itself as 'your guide to Long Island since 1996 (which makes it almost 20 years old!)
Some of the better features of the site include links to Restaurants, Hotels, Nightlife, Weddings, Kids Fun, Day Camps, Wineries, Events and Guides. Click on any of the previous links and you'll go to that part of the website.
Newsday - the Long Island newspaper - has a special section on their website for 'things to do on Long Island'. The link comes from the Lifestyle section and can be found by clicking here.
The current page has link for the 2015 Jones Beach Air Show, 50 Must-Have Summer Toys for Every Kid, Your Ultimate Guide to 99 Long Island Beaches, 12 Favorite Outdoor Dining Spots on LI, 10 Safety Tips When Boating With Kids and more.
Finally, for another point of view, users might want to visit the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission website. The site has links to Arts & Culture, Beaches & Ocean Fun, Golf/Sports/Outdoors, Wine and Dine, Shopping, Kids and Families, Farms and Orchards, Maps and Transportation and Coupons/Brochures. Its a great site to get ideas to do things during the Summer - and Winter and Spring and Fall!
Enjoy the links,
Regards,
Stu

The Happy Birthday Post
Hi All,
Here's something that we all have: a birthday. Whether or not you celebrate it or just want to bury the date under a rug and forget about it, the day is there. Its the day you were born.
Click on this link for 'Famous Birthdays on This Day in History' from Historyorb.com. Things to note about this very, very long list:
1. The list is international and, as a result, you might not be familiar with some (most) of the names. From the list on March 28th, I recognized the following: Lady Gaga, Edwar Ramirez, Julia Stiles, Vince Vaughn, Ken Howard, Zbigniew Brzezinski and Maxim Gorky.
2. The list goes all the way back in history to 37AD...
3. Users can visit Historyorb.com and use the search box on the main page (at the right side of the page) to search by Day, Month, Year, Type, and Keywords. Users will be find results for historical events that occurred on the date chosen.
4. Also on Historyorb.com are links to Today in History, Historical Events, Famous Birthdays, Deaths, Famous People, Dates, Weddings/Divorces on This Day and Deaths.
Kind of cool, eh?

Hi All,
It's official...the Best of Long Island voting has started and you can vote for your favorite services in areas like: Arts and Entertainment, Automotive, Clothing, Education, Food & Drink, Health/Wellness/Beauty, Home & Garden, Nightlife & Spirits, Pets, Restaurants, Shopping, Services, Sports and Weddings.
Note that readers can click on any of the links above and you'll go directly to that part of the Long Island Press website where you can actually vote for the various service. Voting ends on December 15th, 2013 at 11:59pm. Click on this link to visit the Long Island Press main page for the BOLI awards - you'll learn a lot about how the results are tabulated!
Click on this link for last years winners (2013). Just in the 'Services' category alone users can find poll results for 'Accounting Firms, Dating Services, Dry Cleaners, Pawn Shops, Photography Studio's, Social Media Agencies, Travel Agencies and much, much more.
What a great way to find local businesses, services or organizations to help you with a project or job that you need to finish. And you'll be getting a winning company or organization so that, more than likely, the job or service will be finished correctly!
Enjoy the site and the voting!
Regards,
