Calling All Biscuit Lovers...Hockey Playoffs 2011

Hi All,

Just wanted to write a brief post on the current hockey playoffs. Want some inside dirt on the hockey playoffs? Check out the NHL website at this link. Click here for news, video, statistics, top headlines, scores, tickets and much more.

Other great hockey sites are ESPN's hockey link - click here for the site. Okay, on the same note - but a bit different is the CBS Sports site - click here for it. What do the last two sites have in common you ask? Indeed - they are both designed by professional organizations so the site layout is intuitive and very easy to use. The graphics are great, the links always work, and the writing is really, really excellent since it is written by real reporters. The downside? It is pretty mainstream writing - that is to say the info isn't that unique or rare and, while the articles sometimes try to be 'controversial', they really aren't.

That being said, let's look at a few hockey blogs where, just like in a hockey fight the gloves come off. The hockey blogs' mentioned here are controversial, opinionated and pretty darn funny in some cases. So let me drop that puck and start the list!

1. Puck Update - written by a fellow New Yorker - he lives in Queens, New York - this is a darn long-running hockey blog (since September 2002) and he's been mentioned by other sources as having a really interesting blog (USA Hockey and ESPN2's SportsNation among others). Again, stats, articles and, on the right side of the blog is a blogroll of other hockey blogs. 2. QuantHockey.com - not so much a blog as it is a repository of all sorts of hockey statistics -and sorted by player birth year, nationality, player age, country of birth, birth state and/or birth province and much, much more. Incredible how much time and effort the designer put into the site!

3. NHL Digest.com On the site you can find an NHL Player Birthday calendar (aw, how cute), links to hockey interviews and NHL Business. Cool stuff.

4. Hockey-Blog-in-Canada.com Yes, I know about the title. But it is still hockey. Oh, and don't forget to look at the links on the right side of the page. There are links to other hockey related websites, history of the nhl trophies and a link to highly clicked articles...note that I didn't link the sites since you have to use a drop down menu to go to the various choices.

So there you have it - 4 pretty cool hockey blogs that will help you get your share of puck fun for these wild and woolly playoffs. Enjoy!
