Senior's Guide to Computers

Hi All,

Just came across - yet again! - another interesting website. Site name is 'The Senior's Guide to Computers' and can be found by clicking here, here and here.

What is the site about you ask?  Great question....the site is simple, useful, and uncluttered - and easy to use.   The site walks you through everything computer and web related with their easy-to-navigate “Learning Center”. Want to back up your data? You’ll get written instructions complete with screen shots and animation.  And there is much, much more.

There are simple links to using the audio/sound feature on your computer, Backing Up Your Data, Basics of Computers, Email, a helpful Glossary, information about computer Hardware, the Internet, computer security and computer software.

There is also a blog attached to the site - just click here for the 'Seniors Guide to Computers' blog.  One caveat - it hasn't been updated in over a year - last updated was on 7/7/16!

Whew.  That's a lot of links - and a lot of information to go through!

To learn about the fella who designed and maintains 'The Senior's Guide to Computers' click on this link - he seems like a very, very knowledgeable guy! And self taught when it comes to computers!

Nature Soundmap - Hear The World Like Never Before!

Hi All,

While answering reference questions for patrons I come across lots of interesting sites.  My 'internet' travels take me far, far away sometimes.  And with that I get to see sites that I like to discuss on the blog...Nature Soundmap.com is one such site!

What is Nature Soundmap.com you ask?  As usual, great questions and the answer is..." group of professional nature recordists from around the globe have collaborated to develop Nature Soundmap. 
The site is an enjoyable and interactive way of exploring the natural sounds of our planet"

Click here for the main map to listen to various sounds on the site. Users can manually move the map over to any part of the world- then just click on one of the pushpins and you'll be able to listen to recordings of that particular animal.

Hi All,

Have you heard?  Of.  Rent.com?  Its a website where you can rent your next apartment. Users can find an apartment using zip code and/or the name of the town or city and the state.  Its really easy to use. Rent.com uses Legit-A-Master to help make the site more authoritative and useful.

What's Legit-a-Master? It collects 3D floor plans, photos, virtual tours and finds certified resident reviews for the apartments on the site.

Site listings have floor plans, a list of amenities that come with the apartment, property details and neighborhood information. Contact information is included as well.

Other useful parts of the site include a Moving Center, Rent.com's Blog and a way to personalize your apartment searches using My Rent.
