Hi All,

Lots of libraries and archives are online but the site I'm talking about today has a link to over 250 libraries and archives that specialize in local, regional and U.S. history. There are larger collections in each discrete link - and there are some eTexts and eBook repositories among the go forth and find them. And be prepared to fall through the rabbit hole that is called the internet.

The sites are unique, incredibly detailed and interesting - and of course, very specialized. Technically the link comes from a site called OEDb - the Open Education Database and can be found by clicking on this link.

Links for New York start at the 99th link. Examples of the links include Hamilton College Digital Collections, New York Public Library Digital Projects, New York State Documents and the United States Military Academy Library's Digital Collections.

Note that these are the link for JUST New York State - remember there are 49 other states in the union - which are alphabetically organized on the OEDB site.

Hi All,

Periodically I graze through my Firefox bookmarks and decide to generate a 'clean up blog entry' wherein I list sites that are interesting, but probably don't warrant a whole blog entry devoted to the particular site. Hi All,

Presidents are special. Not for the least reason that there have only been 43 unique presidents in United States history. They are rare and, generally (okay, sometimes) popular. But they do command respect and, at times, have been called 'the most important man in the free world'.

Presidential powers are vast - click here for more on that topic. And for that reason alone, Presidents of the United States have libraries. What is a presidential library? Well, it is a place where a presidents keeps his/her papers, documents, histories and more so historians, political scientists, researchers, biographers, writers and others can do original research on a particular president.
