Thanksgiving has come and gone...and now the holiday season is upon for real!  Which, of course, means that holiday shopping has started!

Your Credit Score Decoded

Hi All,

Some time ago - back in late March 2015 specifically - Yahoo! Finance did a piece on credit scores.  Basically they discussed how the final credit score number is generated.  Click on this link for the video - and note that a credit score is composed of 5 parts: payment history, debt balance, length of credit history, new credit applications and types of credit.

The rest of this brief blog post will discuss ways to increase your credit score.

Bankrate.com has an article titled, '7 Simple Ways to Improve Your Credit Score'

Myfico.com has an article titled, 'Improve Credit Score: Tips Repair and Improve Your Credit Score'.

Even Forbes.com got into the act with an article on credit scores...title of the article is '11 Ways to Raise Your Credit Score, Fast'. 

US News and World Reports wrote an article called '10 Simple Ways to Raise Your Credit Score'.

So there you have it...a total of 28 ways to help you increase your credit score - and from different sources.  Finally, the Federal Reserve Bank has a link titled '5 Tips: Improving Your Credit Score' - which can be found at this link.

Shopping on Black Friday

Hi All,

Traditionally the day after Thanksgiving is known as 'Black Friday'. Click on this link for the derivation of this name - interesting little factoid! Simply put it is the traditional starting day of the Christmas holiday shopping season.

Click on this to find all sorts of black friday holiday deals from various stores. Basically this is a Google search using the terms 'black friday holiday 2011'. The list came back with over...ah well, it was a ridiculous number, but suffice to say there are dozens of results...there were holidays deals on the page from Wal-Mart, Target and other retailers.

For those who are 'newcomers' to shopping on Black Friday you would do well take a look at this article from the Washington Post. This is an article that talks about ten tips to be aware of if you are a Black Friday shopping newbie.

Not satisfied with just regular black friday sales? Click on this link from BlackFriday.info (notice the address change - it isn't just a .com) and you'll find some of the very best links to Black Friday sales.

One of the really good things about the site are the articles that deal with shopping and the various guides that are incorporated on the site. For example, clicking on this link will get you to camcorder buying guides, gps buying guides, smart phone buying guides, tablet buying guides and more.
