Betcha didn't know that the library is hosting a scary, ghost-worthy program on Thursday 8/19/10 at 7pm on ghosts? Did you? If you did I bet you were channeling the library and our program coordinator!
The program is called Hauntings: A Study of Ghosts and attendees will visit a haunted mansion in Massachusetts among other exciting adventures. Click here to find out which room the program is going to be held in.
So...to go along with this neat program that our program coordinator thoughtfully arranged, I've come up with a list of 5 sites that a paranormal explorer/investigator might want to visit before or after the program. The sites are educational, amusing and just a bit offbeat.
Drumroll please...(like a David Letterman Top 10 List we are counting down backwards...)
5. Click here for everyone's favorite free online encyclopedia: Wikipedia. In this case we've linked to the phrase 'ghosts' from Wikipedia. Note the long list of contents and that info on American Ghosts is in chapter 4.8. Click here to go there.
4. Haunted Long Island. Crazy cool site on ghosts and Long Island. I wonder if you ever knew that there are - according to HLI's author - that there are 32 ghost sites on Long Island? Didn't think so! Click here to visit Haunted Long Island.
3. I wanted to throw in a big term in this blog entry. Here it is: Paranormal Activity. What the heck is that you ask? Click here to find out the answer from About.com's resident Paranormal Phenomena Guide, Stephen Wagner.
2. Those familiar with the paranormal or ghosts or psychic topics might have heard of John Edwards. Here is the link to his official website. You can even get private readings by Mr. Edwards in addition to finding out what his schedule is so you can see him live and in person. Finally, you can subscribe to his free email newsletter at the site.
1. Lastly, we'll end with something tangible - something that our readers can print out, take home and show friends. Pictures of ghosts. No laughing now - this is serious stuff - especially to the folks to follow this. Click on this link to find photos of real ghosts.
1a. Okay - we'll throw in another link for free. I know that I use Wikipedia a lot for this blog, but it really does suit my purposes for the blog. So, without further ado...here is a link to movies that have ghost(s) as the subject matter. Click here for the link! Oh, and the library has a good chunk of the these movies - so save your money and come on down to the library and check out which ghostly movies you can check out for free! Click here for the link to the card catalog at the Farmingdale Public Library about ghosts!
Stay spooky - we'll see you soon.
Stu
